Frequently Asked Questions

Information Technology Career Training

Carolina Career College offers IT and Computer training career programs for those looking to improve their outlook. Have a question about how our programs work? Below we answer some of the questions prospective students and career-seekers ask us most often. Read on for more.

Why should I enter the IT field?

Information Technology can be essential to the day-to-day operations and long-term growth of many businesses. Because of this, there is rising demand for a range of IT professionals — including Network Systems Analysts, Computer Systems Analysts, Computer Support Specialists and Database Administrators.

Can’t I do this myself?

We’ve had many students that have tried training themselves for an Information Technology career but ultimately decide to come to Carolina Career College later. Why would they do that? It’s very difficult to have the skills required to obtain computer certifications and it can be quite difficult to find an Information Technology career on your own. At Carolina Career College, our career services department can help connect you with companies hiring IT employees to get your career started.

Why are certifications so important?

Nothing less than a sea-change has taken place in the tech industry in the last few years, as the importance of certifications has risen to record levels – many believe past a degree.  In fact, CompTIA reports 91% of employers believe IT certifications play a key role in the hiring process and that IT certifications are a reliable predictor of a successful employee.  IT certifications validate the skills of a potential employee, minimizing the risk for a potential employer. We feature certifications from vendors including Microsoft, Cisco, and CompTIA.

How much does it cost to enroll in an IT career program?

That depends on the program and your level of experience. Let one of our Admissions Representatives talk to you about which program may be right for you. One thing’s for sure – it’s often a fraction of the cost of a traditional college or university.

Where can I find funding help for my IT training?

Carolina Career College IT training students have funding options that include Veterans Administration programs and private bank loans as low as $25 per month while in school for those who qualify.

How long will my  program take?

Again, it depends on your level of experience. Many of our students are working in IT jobs before they finish training. Usually our students finish their programs in less than a year.
