Oswald’s Career Transition
Oswald is one of those guys you meet that lights up the room. He’s friendly and outgoing, with an unforgettable accent that sounds Jamaican to most but actually comes from the Virgin Islands.
Like many who serve in the U.S. Military, Oswald found the transition to a civilian career challenging. He tells us transferring his military skills to the job market was difficult. Back home and unemployed, Oswald decided to enroll at Carolina Career College to pursue a career in Information Technology.
Oswald admits the courses were quite challenging at first, but he got the hang of it. He even says those with little or no computer experience can benefit most from the training if they clear their mind and follow the recommendations of the instructors and staff. His reasoning is that someone new to an IT career is a blank slate. With hard work, he believes anyone can learn the skills required for success in the field.
Just about six months after Oswald started at Carolina Career College, before graduation, he was hired and his new IT career is underway.
Congratulations, Oswald. You are an inspiration and we thank you for your service.
