Best Jobs Revealed at Fayetteville Career Seminar
Carolina Career College held an Information Technology Career Seminar at the Fayetteville Courtyard Marriott on February 10th. Trends, opportunities, and some of the latest best jobs in the IT industry were discussed. Here are a few highlights:
- The Raleigh-Durham area is one of the most robust regions for tech jobs in the United States, with an average of 1,120 jobs posted daily. (we also revealed what percentage of jobs are never posted!)
- According to IT industry association CompTIA, the IT unemployment is less than half the general unemployment rate. The unemployment rate for veterans working in Information Technology is approximately 75 percent lower than the general veteran unemployment rate.
- Carolina Career College trains specifically for 5 of the U.S. News and World Report Top 9 Tech Careers of 2016. This includes Computer Systems Analyst (#1 overall), IT Manager, Information Security Analyst, Computer Support Specialist, and Computer Systems Administrator.
- CompTIA now reports 96% of tech HR managers use IT certifications as screening or hiring during recruitment.
A remarkable sea-change has taken place in the past five years. A great number of companies now place significant weight on IT certifications over a computer-related degree for the specific skills that are validated. This comes into play for many of the “best jobs” on the list.
Perhaps most astounding is the projected growth in the cybersecurity sector. While there are already over 300,000 unfilled cybersecurity jobs available in the United States today, that figure is expected to balloon to 1.5 million by 2020.
