Don’t Forget Durham-Chapel Hill
A funny thing has happened in the last five or so years. While the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area rebounded faster economically than most other regions of the country and the tech industry surged thanks to the area’s Research Triangle Park, just about every “Best Of” list in publications nationwide focused its attention on one city:
It is fair to bestow such high praise on Raleigh. It has not only experienced wild population growth – the downtown has grown, there are festivals just about every weekend, the dining scene is world class, and the list goes on. But what about the western side of the Triangle area? According to Nerdwallet, it is the Durham-Chapel Hill area that ranks #4 in the U.S. for tech jobs, and boasts some incredible statistics:
- 66 out of every 1,000 jobs is in tech
- Median salaries exceed $94,500
- Median rent is $870/month, second lowest on their top 10 list
- Research Triangle Park is home to major headquarters of companies that include IBM and Cisco
That’s one of the great things about the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. No matter which point of the Triangle you choose, you’re always going to solve the equation and look like a genius.
