Celebrating Military Appreciation Month

The Carolina Career College community has a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by those in the military and their families. Because of you, we are able to enjoy the freedoms many often take for granted. In honor of Military Appreciation Month, we want to congratulate all of the veterans who recently graduated from CCC’s many certification programs and began their IT careers! We are so proud to be able to support veterans’ transitions as part of a nationwide push to bring veteran unemployment to a near-record low of 3.5% in 2018.

If you wish to follow in our recent graduates’ footsteps but may be unsure if Carolina Career College is the right fit for you, here are some of the reasons so many veterans chose us to help them begin their IT careers in the past.

Carolina Career College Understands Veterans’ Needs

Carolina Career College understands that those who have served our country have much different educational needs than civilians and we pride ourselves on meeting the needs of military personnel transitioning to civilian life by providing career services assistance and seasoned instructors to help guide our students.

Each year approximately 230,000-245,000 Veterans leave the military and begin the transition to civilian life. Even for the bravest Americans, this transition can be daunting. While during the recruitment process, recruits are often told they will be uniquely qualified for civilian employment, the reality is that qualified veterans are often overwhelmed by the culture shock of jumping into a civilian lifestyle, resulting in underemployment and missed connections with peers.

In a survey of post-9/11 veterans in Los Angeles, 65% of them reported needing more meaningful help finding a job and 61% reported needing educational assistance. While organizations across the country are working to close this gap by working with the VA to establish a better transition process with more long-term support, it is still often necessary for veterans to take steps on their own to convert their military training into a full-time civilian job. For many North Carolina-based Veterans, Carolina Career College can act as a support system during this pivotal transition period.

Carolina Career College Gives Veterans the Tools They Need for Success

At Carolina Career College, we strive to make that transition easier by tailoring our programs to the needs of military personnel. Investing in one of CCC’s IT certification programs will give you a leg up in the process of getting a civilian job by helping you to hone and quantify some of the IT skills you may have already gained from your military experience. For those whose Mission of Service (MOS) was not IT related, CCC offers accelerated programs to train students in the necessary skills to get started on a successful IT career path.

Regardless of whether or not a Veteran’s MOS was IT-related, your military service and any security clearance you’ve gained can put you at an advantage in the IT field if you choose to continue working for the government or for a government contractor. Some positions within the Department of Defense under DoD 8570.1 will even require the certifications that CCC prepares you for, such as the CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and CompTIA Security+ Certifications.

Carolina Career College is Dedicated to Helping Veterans

While many institutions offer preparation for IT Certifications, CCC is set apart by the fact that we have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and are designated as a Military Friendly school. By definition, a Military Friendly® School is “the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefit for the military community,” meaning that Carolina Career College is dedicated to enhancing Veterans’ transitions to civilian life.

Among the services we offer to fulfill this commitment are our Career Services which includes Professional Career Coaching, Resume Development and Distribution, Cover Letter Creation, Exclusive Career Fairs, and Career Placement and Advancement Assistance; all included in your tuition! Since CCC is approved by the VA, your GI Bill Funding can pay for 100% of tuition, eliminating the need for loans and allowing you to get the additional support you need to start your IT career!

As if you needed another reason to enroll in CCC today, a study by the VA shows that both male and female veterans had higher median salaries than non-veterans! Furthermore, that same study shows that female veterans who held a year-round, full-time job made a median of more than $10,000 more those who are part-time or seasonal. Imagine what that increase in income could do for you and your family as you transition to civilian life together.

So, what’s stopping you from taking the next step in starting the next chapter of your career? Contact Carolina Career College today to use your GI Bill Funding to better your future!
